Leverage style Recruitment Job for the initial uncertainty about what the PCs can do...
What do you think about the The Expanse in the same vein? I'd heard - wrongly - that it was taken from an RPG the writers had played. I'd believed it because I thought the introduction of a character straight after the death of another (spoiler details removed, just in case) seemed like a perfect roll a new character moment.
ReplyDeleteAs I understand it, it started as a game pitch, was run as an RPG for a while and then was adapted pretty loosely into the books. Dark Matter feels more like a lot of RPGs, with pregens solving adventures with violence...
DeleteThe influences for Dark Matter are strongly anime rather than RPG - wonder if the two overlap in structure a lot.
